Sketchbook Project 2011 Day 8 & 9

Medium: pen and ink, india ink markers

I was just coming out of having a tough time at home when I drew this. I reflected on the past few days and the emotional roller coaster I was on and this is what came out. Literally. I had NO IDEA what I was going to draw. It was very meditative and therapeutic. Who knew a moleskin could replace a therapist?

P.S. This is a page my daughter decided to add her artistic touch to. The filled in mouth and hearts were all her. Guess she felt they needed to be black.

  1. I really like this. It depicts a lot of what depression and anxiety is for me; The constant back and forth in your mind, never being able to figure out why exactly you're upset and you can't even fathom how to get yourself out of the funk. I'm really drawn to the one open eye and the one closed, for some reason. Love it all. Fantastic job, Liz. And, yes, art and making things is a form of catharsis for me, too.

  4. Gosh, I can so relate to these pages for a number of different reasons. I really like them and should teach myself to allow any of my journal books to be theraputic for me!! :)

    Happy Sunday. :)

  7. A very nice page, strong and bold. I think art is much more interesting when we dear to use our emotions and put them out there BIG! :-)
