I took the first step and completed the first page in my sketchbook today. It was easier than I thought. I was suddenly inspired by something and went for it. I also wanted to test out my Sakura pen on the paper more than anything else since so many people have complained about the thinness of the paper. I will agree - the paper is more for jotting than drawing. At least it can't hold up to wet media. Many artists I know are rebinding their books. Didn't feel like going through all that and I kind of like the idea of just using what I have. If the ink shows through on the other side of the page - so what? Doubt I will be painting in here anyway. Maybe pen and ink, MAYBE watercolor? Don't know yet. I like not knowing and not having a plan. I think my sketchbook will really be more of a sketchbook with line art. It's how I sketch after all. I also glue things down in my sketchbook so it will be interesting to see how this thing holds up to collaging. Maybe use my sticker maker vs. using wet glue that might warp the paper? We shall see. I will blog as much of the process as I can - so stay tuned!
Oh and would like to mention that I twisted Laura Zarrin's arm and she is now participating in it as well! Yay!
